A 42-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 8 August 2024) charged in relation to a family violence assault.
About 4am yesterday (Wednesday, 7 August 2024), police understand the man and a woman drove to the Baldessin car park at the Australian National University (ANU) in a silver Nissan X-Trail.
After exiting the vehicle, police allege the man assaulted the woman, who sought assistance from a nearby worker and ANU security staff, while the man subsequently left the scene.
The assault was reported to police about 2pm, who spoke with a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV footage from the ANU.
Police located the man about 11.10pm last night on Mort Street, Braddon where he was arrested.
He has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and going equipped for theft.
