Police are at the scene of a serious crash at Virginia.
The two-car collision occurred at the intersection of King Road and Penfield Road, Virginia just after 11am on Sunday 5 October.
The intersection is closed to traffic in all directions.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, if possible.
Major Crash investigators are heading to the scene to assist the investigation into the crash.

Police are investigating a domestic violence incident that occurred in Alice Springs on Friday 3 October 2025.
It is alleged that on Friday, a female was forced into a vehicle by her male partner at a residence in Alice Springs.
The following day, the vehicle the offender and victim were travelling in became bogged in bushland approximately 15 kilometres south of Alice Springs. The victim was able to flee the vehicle and seek help from people who were in the area, who contacted police.
Police attended the scene, seized the vehicle, and conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area with assistance from general duties members, the Dog Operations Unit and drone operators.
The alleged offender remains outstanding, and investigations are ongoing.

Police are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred in Alice Springs early this morning.
Around 5:30am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received multiple reports of a vehicle fire on Albrecht Drive.
NT Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the vehicle was destroyed.
Initial investigations indicate the vehicle was deliberately set alight during a dispute between people known to each other.
Police have identified those involved and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are calling for information in relation to a violent disturbance in Palumpa early this morning.
Around 12:10am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received multiple reports of groups of people fighting with weapons at a residence in the community. Two vehicles and property were allegedly set alight during the incident, with one of the burning vehicles producing a loud noise that was heard throughout the area.
Local police attended and the group had dispersed prior to police arrival.
A 12-year-old female was treated for minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
Wadeye police were deployed and have identified multiple persons of interest. Investigations remain ongoing.

A woman has been arrested following a serious assault in Port Augusta yesterday afternoon.
About 3.30pm Saturday 4 October, police and paramedics were called to a Higginson Street, Port Augusta home following reports that a person had been stabbed.
The victim, a 33-year-old man from Port Augusta, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics. He was subsequently airlifted to Adelaide in a critical condition.
A 47-year-old local woman was swiftly arrested by patrols at the address. She has been charged with attempted murder.
She was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Port Augusta detectives and crime scene investigators attended the scene and are investigating the incident.
Police wish to reassure the community that this was not a random incident, with both parties involved known to each other.

Woman dies in Franklin River rafting incident

Search and rescue teams have completed a major operation to extract 11 people stranded on a rafting trip on the Franklin River, deep in the Tasmanian World Heritage Wilderness Area.Tasmania Police Search and Rescue officers, helicopter resources and Ambulance Tasmania wilderness paramedics were involved in the treatment and retrieval of the group on Friday, near the Livingston Rivulet and the Coruscades rapid on the Franklin River.With permission from her family, sadly Tasmania Police can today confirm a 49-year-old woman from southern Tasmania drowned on Thursday afternoon.Initial investigations indicate her raft flipped, and she was caught in rapids.Members of the rafting party performed CPR on the woman at the scene, but she could not be revived.No other members of the group – which included the woman’s partner – suffered serious physical injuries.Much of the group’s camping gear such as tents, tarps and clothing was lost in the river on Thursday, which put the rafters’ ongoing safety at risk due to the extreme conditions.Helicopter resources were deployed on Thursday afternoon but were unable to access the remote area due to challenging weather and limited visibility.A helicopter crew returned on Friday morning and was successful in winching all members of the group from a campsite near the Coruscades rapid, and out to Strahan.Police investigations are continuing but it is believed the group of friends comprising Tasmanian and interstate residents was experienced in the Tasmanian outdoors and had organised the trip privately.The incident occurred on the fifth day of a planned 10-day rafting adventure in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.Tasmania Police Marine and Rescue Western Division Acting Inspector Russell Judges said the retrieval was a difficult operation due to the remote and rugged location.“This is a tragic incident in what was planned as an adventure for a group of friends who shared a passion for the Tasmanian wilderness,” Acting Inspector Judges said.“A report will be prepared for the Coroner.“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and their loved ones at this difficult time.”

Vehicle seized after P Plater caught travelling at 160kmh

A 19-year-old P Plater has had their vehicle seized after being caught travelling at 160km/h on the Southern Outlet near Kingston last night.About 9:40pm on Friday, 3 October 2025, officers from Southern Road Police detected a 19-year-old man from Margate travelling at 160 km/h on the Southern Outlet, heading towards Kingston. The vehicle was recorded at this speed shortly after passing the Lea junction.The driver, who holds a Provisional P2 licence, also returned a positive test for an illicit drug.As a result, the vehicle was clamped for 28 days. The driver is expected to face disqualification from driving and a fine of at least $1,178 when he appears in court.This incident highlights the serious risks posed by speeding and drug-impaired driving, particularly among inexperienced drivers. Tasmania Police remain committed to reducing fatal and serious crashes by enforcing road safety laws and promoting responsible driving behaviour.

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 23-year-old male in Alice Springs for possessing child abuse material.
At 10:30am yesterday, detectives from the Southern Child Abuse Taskforce arrested the 23-year-old for possession of child abuse material.
He has been charged with possession of child abuse material and was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Court on Monday 6 October 2025.

A man has died in a single vehicle collision at Wongyarra in the State’s Mid North overnight.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash on the Horrocks Highway, Wongyarra, about six kilometres north of Wirrabara, just after 11.30pm on Friday 3 October.
A car had left the road and collided with a tree.
Sadly, the driver, a 33-year-old Laura man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
Major Crash investigators are attending the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

A man has died after a crash in the State’s south-east.
About 3.30pm today (Friday 3 October), police and emergency services were called to Laurie Park Road, Laurie Park after reports that a man was riding a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle (ATV) while herding sheep between paddocks.
The ATV has then crashed and the rider, a 72-year-old local man died at the scene.
Road closures were in place for several hours but have since been lifted.
The man’s death is the 65th life lost on SA roads this year.
