Police seek wanted man Mathew Massey

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate wanted 49-year-old man Mathew Massey.

Mr Massey is wanted in relation to a number of stolen motor vehicles, aggravated burglary and stolen property offences.

He is described as Caucasian appearance, approximately 186cm tall (6’1) with a solid build, short hair and grey in colour facial hair.

ACT Policing is urging Mr Massey to surrender himself to the nearest police station or to contact police and provide his location.

Mr Massey may be possession of weapons and members of the public are urged not to approach him but to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444 immediately to report any information regarding his whereabouts. Information can be provided anonymously.

Police seeking information following death in Braddon

ACT Policing is seeking information about a vehicle in relation to a death in Braddon earlier this month.

Upon arrival, the man was located deceased inside the unit. The man has now been identified as a 44-year-old man from Belconnen and his death is being treated as suspicious.

Following enquiries, investigators have identified that a grey Toyota Hilux utility attended the Braddon location on the evening of Saturday 20 December 2025.

Police believe the owner of the Toyota Hilux utility may be able to assist with the investigation and would like to speak with them.

Seeking witnesses to dangerous driving incident in Scullin

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage to dangerous driving in Scullin after a 24-year-old O’Connor man had his motorcycle seized yesterday morning.

About 10:25am (Monday 29 December 2025), officers were conducting mobile patrols when they observed a black motorcycle travelling at high speed westbound on Southern Cross Drive towards Kingsford Smith Drive in Scullin.

Police estimate the motorcycle, which wasn’t displaying registration plates, was travelling over 120km/h in the 80km/h zone.

The 24-year-old rider had his motorcycle seized and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the black motorcycle driving dangerously in the Scullin area to come forward.

Have you seen Lindsey Gibbons?

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate missing 46-year-old man Lindsey Gibbons.

Lindsey has not been seen or heard from since 4th December 2025 and was last seen at the Canberra Centre.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 190cm (6’3”) tall, with a large build, fair complexion and short dark hair.

Police and Lindsey’s family hold concerns for his welfare, and are requesting the public’s assistance to locate him.

Police seeking dash-cam footage of indecent act in Gungahlin

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage following an alleged indecent act in Gungahlin earlier this month.

Between 11pm on Thursday 11 December, to 1am Friday 12 December (2025), a man riding an e-scooter, with multi-coloured LED lights, allegedly committed an indecent act on a woman near the Gungahlin Drive overpass near the golf club.

The man police are seeking to identify is described as in his 30s and having a slight middle eastern accent. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black sandshoes, long black pants, a black hooded jumper with the hood pulled over his head and a black backpack.

Following enquiries, police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dash-cam footage of the incident or scooter to come forward.

Man charged with possessing a 3D-printed firearm

A 39-year-old man is expected to face court after police executed an arrest warrant and located a loaded 3D-printed firearm including imitation ammunition.

About 7:20pm yesterday (Friday, 26 December 2025), police were conducting enquiries at a shopping mall in the city when they observed a man known to be subject to an outstanding arrest warrant.

A short time later, officers arrested the man and conveyed him to the ACT Watch House. During a search of the man’s property, police located a 3D-printed firearm concealed within a bag. The firearm was subsequently seized.

The man – who was subject to an arrest warrant for failing to answer bail – is expected to face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Saturday, 27 December 2025) charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm and failing to appear after a bail undertaking.

ACT Policing reminds the community that the manufacture of firearms or firearm parts using 3D printers or any other equipment is illegal. All items used to create a firearm are also subject to criminal asset confiscation including printers, machines, phones, and computers.

Man charged with firearm and FV offences following Whitlam incident

A 39-year-old Whitlam man will face court today charged with firearm and family violence offences following a police operation in Whitlam on Wednesday evening.

About 6:35pm on Wednesday (24 December 2025), the man allegedly assaulted his pregnant partner, punching her in the head several times.

Members of the public observed the woman exit the residence and the man following her with a firearm allegedly in his possession. Witnesses further observed the man falling over causing the firearm to discharge into the air.

About 6:41pm police received multiple reports of the disturbance, arriving a short time later and establishing a cordon. It became known to police that two children were inside the man’s residence.

A significant police response with multiple police resources were in attendance including General Duties patrols, Territory Targeting Team, Road Policing, AFP Dog Team, AFP Tactical Response and AFP Negotiators.

Between 7:22pm and 7:45pm, police will allege the man discharged the firearm 12 times at various locations within the residence. On four occasions the man aimed and discharged the firearm at police.  During this time, the man made several violent threats to police and the children.

About 8:55pm, police will allege the man climbed a rear fence of his property, making threats to police. Moments after, he lost balance and fell to the ground, where police were then subsequently able to arrest him.

Police entered the residence locating two children, who were transported to hospital with non-life threating injuries.

About 11pm, officers executed a search warrant at the residence locating a modified black air rifle with a scope.

The man who was subject to an arrest warrant for failing to answer bail, is expected to face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Friday, 26 December 2025) charged with aggravated assault ABH on pregnant woman (FV), aggravated common assault (FV), unauthorised use of prohibited firearm, four counts of discharge firearm endanger life and attempt assault frontline community service provider.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate missing 15-year-old girl Ava Keenan.

Ava has not been seen or heard from since yesterday evening (Wednesday, 24 December 2025) and was last seen in Charnwood heading towards Dunlop.

She is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a fair complexion, long dark brown hair and slim build.

She was last seen wearing a black shirt, yellow jacket and ripped denim jeans.

Police hold concerns for her welfare, and are requesting the public’s assistance to locate her.

Police Out in Force Across the Territory for New Year’s Eve

Police will be out in force across the Northern Territory on New Year’s Eve to ensure Territorians and visitors welcome the New Year safely and enjoy a positive night out.

There will be multiple targeted police operations focusing on traffic safety and antisocial behaviour.

Operation Boone will see police deployed across the Greater Darwin region, particularly within the CBD and nightclub precincts.

Both Katherine and Alice Springs will have additional police on the beat throughout the celebrations, with a strong focus on early intervention and engagement.

Motorists can also expect to see Random Breath Testing stations and highly visible patrols as police work to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Commissioner Martin Dole said “There will be a significant police presence across the Territory to manage the number of revellers and issues associated with extended trading hours.

“In addition to these New Years operations, Operation Quinn and Operation Ludlow II are still ongoing.

“The vast majority of people attending pubs and clubs are well behaved and simply want to enjoy a night out with friends.

“Unfortunately, there are still some who don’t know, or choose to ignore, their alcohol tolerance, and others who fail to make safe arrangements to get home and selfishly get behind the wheel of a car.

“Our message is simple, police are there to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night. We ask that people look after one another, drink responsibly and plan how they will get home safely.

“There will be a lot of people in urban centres and many trying to leave at the same time. With some forward planning, options are available including staying in a hotel, arranging a sober driver, ordering an Uber, or utilising the Darwin bus service, taxis or minibuses.”

Arrest – Aggravated burglaries – Katherine

Police have apprehended three male youths following a series of aggravated burglaries that occurred in Katherine overnight and this morning.

Around 7:40am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that three male youths had allegedly unlawfully entered a secondary school on Chambers Drive. A staff member was alerted after the campus alarm was activated and contacted police.

It is alleged that while inside the premises, the youths damaged several doors and stole a small amount of cash from a donation box.

Police attended and located the three males aged 9, 9 and 10.

Some of the stolen cash was recovered by police.

The 10-year-old male has been charged with two counts of Aggravated burglary, and the two 9-year-old males will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Further investigations identified the males had allegedly been involved in three additional aggravated burglaries in Katherine this morning and last night.

Around 4:15am, the three youths allegedly unlawfully entered a facility on the corner of Lindsay Street and, Katherine Terrace and caused significant damage to the property doors before fleeing the scene.

Between 2am and 4am this morning, it is alleged the males attended a fast-food restaurant on First Street where significant damage was caused to the property.

On Monday evening, 29 December, sometime before 10:30pm the three males, along with four additional males, are also alleged to have been involved in an aggravated burglary at a facility along the Stuart Highway. A door and multiple items inside were damaged and two sets of keys stolen. Four suspects remain outstanding in relation to this incident.

Police have recovered the keys taken from the facility.
