Man charged with assault and forcible confinement

A 22-year-old Belconnen man has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly bound and assaulted a man in a Reid unit.

ACT Policing was called to a unit complex on Ainslie Avenue in Reid at about 9.05am yesterday (Tuesday, 23 December 2025) after nearby workers heard a man calling for help.

Officers were directed to the unit where the calls were coming from, and the door was answered by a man and a woman, with calls for assistance heard from a second man.

The man and woman allegedly fled the scene by jumping of a first-floor balcony. The man, a 22-year-old from Belconnen, was arrested a short distance away. The woman was unable to be located.

After entering the unit, officers located a man with his hands tied, his mouth gagged and he was covered in a blanket. The man had also suffered a stab wound to his chest. He was subsequently transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics in a stable condition.

The Belconnen man was charged with joint commission intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm, joint commission intentionally wound and joint commission forcible confinement. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates court today (Wednesday, 24 December 2025).

The woman, who is described as Caucasian, about 5’9” tall, with dark hair in a ponytail who was wearing black leggings and a black sports bra at the time of the incident, remains at large.

The missing 49-year-old woman we posted about yesterday has been located.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate missing 49-year-old woman Carmen Johnson.

Carmen has not been seen or heard from since yesterday morning (Monday, 22 December 2025) and was last seen at a residence in Monash.

She is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm (5’5”) tall, with brown shoulder length hair, hazel eyes and a slim build.

Carmen may be travelling in a white 2023 Mazda CX5 SUV with ACT registration YRC44L.

Police and Carmen’s family hold serious concerns for her welfare and are requesting the public’s assistance to locate her.

Police seeking dashcam footage to Dickson dangerous driving incident

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dashcam footage following a dangerous driving incident in the Dickson Tradies Carpark yesterday afternoon.

About 3:10pm yesterday (Monday, 22 December 2025), a woman was standing at the driver’s door of a white Ford Ranger utility vehicle bearing ACT registration YSI97E. A man known to the woman was in the driver’s seat.

The pair allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation before the woman fell to the ground and was allegedly run over by the vehicle as it exited the carpark space.

The vehicle exited the carpark at speed, mounting a curb and footpath on Poppyfield Street, before turning north onto Badham Street.

The woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the incident or vehicle to come forward.

Officers also believe the male driver of the vehicle can assist with the investigation and are urging him to contact police immediately.

Woman to face court after allegedly biting officer

A 44-year-old Moncrieff woman will face court today after allegedly biting an ACT Policing officer during an arrest yesterday.

About 8:30am yesterday morning (Monday, 22 December 2025), police were called to a residence in Moncrieff following a report of a disturbance between the 44-year-old woman and her partner.

Police spoke to the woman and her partner, with both entering a written agreement to keep the Kings Peace for 24 hours.

About 11am the same morning, police reattended the same Moncrieff property following a report the woman was again allegedly acting aggressively.

Officers established that a breach of the peace had occurred and placed the woman under arrest.

During the arrest, the woman became aggressive and allegedly bit one of the arresting officers on the leg.

The 44-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (23 December 2025) charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of resist territory public official.

Deceased man located in Braddon unit

A deceased man has been located in a Braddon unit overnight, with a 37-year-old woman assisting with police enquiries.

About 11.35pm last night (Saturday, 21 December 2025) police and ACT Ambulance Service paramedics were called to a unit on Lowanna Street in Braddon following reports of an injured man at that location.

Upon arrival, a man was located deceased inside the unit. A 37-year-old woman, who was present when police arrived, is assisting police with their enquiries.

The man has not been formally identified and enquiries to confirm his identity are continuing.

Call for witnesses – Domestic violence and sexual assault – Nightcliff

The NT Police Force is calling for witnesses in relation to domestic violence related physical and sexual assault offences that occurred in Nightcliff yesterday afternoon.

Around 2:30pm on Tuesday 23 December, the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received reports that a male was allegedly physically and sexually assaulting a female in the common area of a unit complex in Litchfield Court.

General duties police attended and arrested a 40-year-old male. It was established that the male was known to the female victim. The male has been charged with aggravated assault, gross indecency without consent and engaging in conduct that contravenes a domestic violence order. He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on Monday 29 December 2025.

Several persons were observed walking through Litchfield Court at the time of the male’s alleged offending. Investigators from the Northern Domestic Violence Unit area appealing to anyone who was in Litchfield Court around 2:30pm on Tuesday 23 December to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference NTP2500126822.

Charges laid over Devonport burglaries

A man and two youths from George Town have been charged with burglary, motor vehicle theft, fraud and related offences following an investigation by the Western Criminal Investigation Branch.Detective Inspector Michelle Elmer said several burglaries in the Devonport area were reported to police last weekend, and investigators followed a specific line of inquiry to identify the people responsible.“Police will allege the trio committed the burglaries before stealing a motor vehicle and driving to Launceston, where they then committed fraud offences using stolen bank cards,” she said.The 23-year-old man and two 16-year-olds were arrested in George Town and have been charged with several offences. Arrest – Assault workers – Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 17-year-old male after he threatened staff at two stores in Alice Springs earlier today.

Around 9:50am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a male offender had threatened staff members at two stores in the Alice Springs CBD. It is alleged he entered one store in a shopping centre on Hartley Street and made threats to assault a female employee aged in her 60s, before security intervened and asked him to leave.

The offender allegedly attended a second store located on the corner of Bath Street and Gregory Terrace and threatened a male employee aged in his 50s with an edged weapon before leaving.

Police responded and the 17-year-old was located and arrested a short time later by Operation Ludlow II members.

He remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
