Emergency services are responding to a serious crash at Penfield.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Pellew Road and Ranger (Short) Road at about 7.45am Thursday 14 May following reports of a crash.

Road closures are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Police are investigating two break-ins at northern suburbs businesses this morning.

Just after 4am on Thursday 14 May, police were called to businesses on Yorktown Road at Elizabeth Park and Craigmore following reports of break-ins.

At Elizabeth Park, patrols arrived to find a roller shutter and window had been damaged at a tobacconist, with a large quantity of cigarettes stolen.

At Craigmore, officers located a nearby gift store that had also been broken into, with cigarettes also stolen from the premises.

Initial investigations indicate multiple suspects attended the locations in a Hyundai SUV, which had been stolen from a Hyde Park address overnight, before fleeing the scene.

The SUV believed to be involved was located burnt out at Gale Road, Evanston South about 5am.

Detectives and crime scene investigators attended both scenes, and investigations are ongoing.

Police are investigating a car fire at Rosewater in the early hours of this morning.

Police and fire crews were called to Bowyer Street, Rosewater by reports of a car fire just before 4.30am on Thursday 14 May.

The blue Holden Trax station wagon was well alight when emergency crews arrived.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and crime scene investigators will attend the scene later this morning.

Police are investigating after shots were fired into the garage of a Kidman Park home overnight.

Police were called to an address in Walter Street, Kidman Park at 4.20am on Thursday 14 May by reports of gunshots and a car driving past.

Officers found two bullet holes in the garage door of the premises.  No one at the address was injured during the incident.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are currently at the address and examining the scene.

Police wish to reassure the local community that this does not appear to be a random incident.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at the North Adelaide golf course overnight.

Police and fire crews were called to the site on War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide, at the North Adelaide Railway Station, at 2am on Thursday 14 May.

The fire was extinguished by MFS crews, but a temporary structure at the site was gutted by fire.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.  Fire cause investigators are at the scene.

Missing West Hobart woman safely back with family

Thursday, 14 May 2026 – 7:36 am.

A West Hobart woman reported missing since Tuesday evening has been located and was reunited last night with her family.
There had been concerns for the welfare of the 70-year-old who was reported missing about 5.30pm on Tuesday.
However, the woman was located by members of the public, not far from her home, about 9.45pm on Wednesday.
Inspector Brenda Orr of Hobart Police said the woman had no serious physical injuries but was showing the effects of being outdoors and exposed to cold conditions.
“This is a wonderful result for her family, who are obviously very relieved to have her safely home,” Inspector Orr said.
“It’s also good news for those officers and search personnel who were involved in looking for her across West Hobart and South Hobart on Tuesday night and through Wednesday with the hope she would be found. We thank them for their efforts.
“She is very fatigued and is showing some physical effects of exposure to the cold weather and being without food or drink for more than 24 hours.
“But overall, she is well, is now safely back at home and is recovering.”
Investigations continue into how the woman went missing and where she may have been until being found.

Search continues after firearm incident at Wynyard

Wednesday, 13 May 2026 – 11:09 pm.

Police resources are set to remain in the Wynyard area tonight and into Thursday as investigations continue into a wounding incident involving a firearm on Sandpiper Road.
Police and other emergency services were called to the residential address shortly after 3pm on Wednesday following reports a person had received a gunshot wound to the stomach.
A man aged in his late 30s has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.
Initial investigations indicate the man sustained a single gunshot wound from a small calibre rifle.
Police have recovered a firearm at the scene, which will undergo testing.
No other injuries have been reported and a crime scene has been declared at the address.
Police believe the parties involved in this incident are known to each other and were involved in a disturbance at the front of the property prior to the wounding.
As of 10.30pm Wednesday, no arrests have been made.
Investigations continue as police try and locate some of the people involved in this incident, including the person suspected of using the firearm, who left the scene before officers arrived.
Multiple police units, including specialist resources, are involved in the investigation and people in the Burnie and Wynyard areas may notice an increased police presence.

Police responding to Wynyard firearms incident

Wednesday, 13 May 2026 – 4:47 pm.

Police are conducting inquiries in the Wynard and Burnie areas as investigations continue into a firearms incident on Sandpiper Road this afternoon.
Police and other emergency services were called to the residential address shortly after 3pm, following reports a person had received a gunshot wound to the stomach.
The person has been taken to hospital and is believed to be in a serious condition. No other injuries have been reported.
A crime scene has been declared at the address, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
Multiple police units, including specialist resources, are responding to the incident and people in the Burnie and Wynyard areas may notice an increased police presence in the area.
At this stage, no arrests have been made.

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 14-year-old male in relation to recent suspicious structure fires in Galiwinku.

Around 4:50pm on Saturday 9 May, police received reports of smoke coming from a vacant council-owned residence near a recreation facility in Galiwinku.

The building was found fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, with attending police extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported.

Around 12:30am yesterday morning, police received reports of a structure fire involving a government-owned premises in the community. The building, which was vacant at the time of the fire, was found engulfed in flames upon police arrival.

The fire self-extinguished and no injuries were reported to police.

Yesterday, following investigations, a 14-year-old male was arrested in Galiwinku in relation to the alleged offending of arson. He remains in police custody and is due to appear in court tomorrow.
