ACT Policing is responding to two collisions on Canberra Avenue this morning.

The first incident involved a green Holden Commodore station wagon colliding with two pedestrians near St Edmund’s College. They were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The same vehicle has continued along Canberra Avenue before colliding with other vehicles and coming to a stop near Manuka shops.

The driver of the Holden Commodore is in hospital under police guard.

Sections of Canberra Avenue near Manuka and Griffith will remain closed until further notice.

A 35-year-old man has been extradited from Western Australia after allegedly assaulting a woman in a nightclub on Bunda Street in 2022.

On 4 December 2022, a woman approached police conducting patrols in the city and reported she had allegedly been sexually assaulted by the 35-year-old man on the dance floor of a night club.

Police made numerous attempts to locate the man since the incident and information received suggested he fled interstate following the incident. Earlier this year, investigators from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) identified he was residing in Western Australia.

On Tuesday (25 March 2025), WA Police Sexual Assault Squad detectives arrested the man and yesterday (26 March 2025), SACAT investigators facilitated the man’s return to the ACT.

The 35-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday 27 March 2025) to face charges of sexual intercourse without consent and act of indecency without consent.

ACT Policing is seeking to identify a man after he allegedly committed an indecent act at a Fyshwick retail store last week.

About 1pm last Wednesday (2 April 2025), police received reports a man had allegedly committed an indecent act while in a changeroom at a retail store inside the Fyshwick outlet centre.

The incident was reported to police and following a review of CCTV footage, police are now seeking the public’s assistance to identify the man.

Witnesses to the incident have been provided with support services.

Police encourage the man depicted in the image to attend the nearest police station.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and information after three vehicles were stolen from North Canberra suburbs last week.

In three separate incidents since Wednesday, 2 April 2025, police have responded to reports of vehicles taken from homes.

These incidents included:

• A blue Toyota Rav 4 bearing ACT registration YQE 85S was stolen from a residence in Scullin some time between midnight and 7.30am on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
• A white Toyota Landcruiser bearing ACT registration YML 87D was stolen from a residence in Bonner at approximately 4.50am on Thursday, 3 April 2025.
• A black Ford Raptor bearing NSW registration FDS 13Y was stolen from a residence in Nicholls some time between 7.30pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025 and 7.30am on Thursday, 3 April 2025.

The black Ford Raptor was sighted by members of the public and police multiple times between 7am and 9am last Thursday (3 April 2025) driving erratically, however due to the behaviour of the driver, police were unable to safely stop the vehicle.

A short time later, the Ford Raptor was located abandoned in Giralang.

The Toyota Rav 4 was also recovered on Thursday in Giralang, and the Toyota Landcruiser was located in Dunlop.

ACT Policing is asking the community, particularly residents in the Gungahlin and Belconnen districts, to check CCTV or dashcam footage from Wednesday and Thursday morning last week for footage of the vehicles or any people behaving suspiciously.

A 28-year-old man will face court today after allegedly strangling his wife multiple times yesterday morning.

Police allege between 1am and 3.30am on Wednesday (9 April 2025), the man repeatedly strangled his wife at their home in Gungahlin.

About 10pm, the incidents were reported to police and a short time later, the man was arrested.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 10 April 2025), charged with four counts of choking, suffocating, or strangling another person.

A 48-year-old man from Ngunnawal has been arrested after allegedly committing an indecent act in Gungahlin yesterday.

About 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, 8 April 2025) police were called to the Gungahlin Library after receiving reports a man had allegedly committed an indecent act while in the library.

After speaking to staff and witnesses, a 48-year-old man from Ngunnawal was located a short time later by police in the Gungahlin shopping centre.

He was taken into custody and will be issued with a summons to appear in court at a later date.

Witnesses to the incident have been provided support services.

ACT Policing is seeking to identify these men who may be able to assist in the investigation into an alleged assault in the City in February.

About 3:00am on Sunday 23 February (2025), a man was assaulted on the corner of East Row and London Circuit, outside of East Row Cafe by a group of men.

During the assault the man suffered a broken jaw.

As a result of continuing enquiries, police would now like to identify and speak to the men in this image or anyone who knows these men. Police believe these men have information that can assist with the investigation.

Police have seized a shotgun, knives, methamphetamine, and heroin following a search of the black Ford Ranger involved in a pursuit earlier this week.

On Thursday, 10 April 2025, officers executed a search warrant on the vehicle and located a shotgun, ammunition, fireworks, cash, more than a dozen small clip seal bags containing a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, and two bags of a white powder substance believed to be heroin.

The seized items will be subject to forensic examination and further charges are expected to be laid.

The 38-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 9 April 2025).

He has been charged with failing to stop for police, aggravated furious driving, aggravated dangerous driving, using a weapon to hinder own detention, drug driving, driving unlicenced and driving while disqualified.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested after jumping into Lake Burley Griffin to evade police following a pursuit.

About 9am this morning (Tuesday, 8 April 2024), ACT Policing was notified of a pursuit by New South Wales Police Force involving a black Ford Ranger after the driver crossed the border on Canberra Avenue in Fyshwick.

The vehicle, which was towing a car trailer with a Toyota Hilux on it, crossed onto the opposite side of the road multiple times and drove on footpaths along the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, placing other road users and pedestrians at significant risk.

ACT Policing’s Proactive Policing Team are investigating the incident and requesting anyone with footage of the Ford Ranger towing a Toyota Hilux in Fyshwick, Kingston, and Barton this morning, to come forward.

Two men have been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman known to them over the weekend.

Police allege the men, aged 26 and 29, sexually assaulted the woman at the 29-year-old man’s residence on Saturday.

Following an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT), the two men were arrested at Belconnen Police Station yesterday (Monday, 7 April 2025).

Both men will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 8 April 2025), charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

A 48-year-old man who told police he had consumed two bottles of wine prior to driving from Jerrabomberra to Gungahlin has lost his licence for 90 days.

About 6pm last Friday (4 April 2025), officers from Gungahlin Police Station were conducting patrols when they came across a collision between a blue Toyota Hilux and green Suzuki Jimny on Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

No one was injured as a result of the collision, but police suspected the driver of the Toyota was under the influence of alcohol. The 48-year-old man underwent a roadside alcohol screening test, which indicated a positive result for alcohol.

He was taken to Gungahlin Police Station to undergo a Breath Analysis Test where he recorded a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.387 – seven times the legal alcohol limit.

The man was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his ACT drivers’ licence for 90 days. He will also be summonsed to face charges of drink driving before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
