The Northern Territory Police Force are calling for information in relation to an aggravated unlawful entry that occurred around midday in Alice Springs.

Around 11:50am, police received a report of a robbery on Parke Crescent, The Gap. It is alleged that a woman, aged in her 50’s,  briefly exited her residence when an unknown man pushed her to the ground and forced his way inside while armed with a knife and slingshot.

The offender allegedly stole the keys to the woman’s vehicle, a silver Toyota CHR, before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

Officers from Strike Force Viper attended, and the woman did not require medical treatment for her injuries.

The offender is described as a man of Aboriginal appearance, aged 18 to 25 years old, short hair, wearing black jeans and a black puffer jacket with a red and white motive.

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a man  in relation to a hit and run in Darwin City overnight.

The 24-year-old man was arrested a short time ago at a residence in Woolner.

He currently remains in custody at the Palmerston Watchhouse.

About 8.15am Sunday 6 July, police responded to South Terrace following reports that a Toyota ute had been stolen. It is alleged the victim had stepped out of his vehicle to make a delivery when an unknown man entered the driver’s seat. The victim approached the suspect who pushed him away and drove off towards Hutt Street.

The victim, who was not injured, provided police with GPS tracking information for the ute which showed it travelling towards the southern suburbs. Multiple patrols deployed to the area and PolAir launched to assist in the search.

The police helicopter spotted and began tracking the car on Main South Road as it continued south. The Toyota stopped on Field Street at McLaren Vale where the driver exited the vehicle, allowing patrols to quickly move in and arrest the suspect.

Crime Scene Investigators attended the scene to examine the car which was then returned to the owner.

A 37-year-old man of no fixed place was charged with aggravated robbery and illegal use of a motor vehicle. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday 7 July).

The Northern Territory Police Force are calling for information in relation to a hit and run in Darwin City overnight.

Around 12:30am, a man, aged in his 50’s, was crossing Mitchell Street near the intersection of Nuttall Place when he was struck by a blue Toyota Hilux dual cab utility.

The impact tossed the male into the air, causing him to land on a nearby stationary car before hitting the road.

The Hilux failed to stop at the scene and continued down Mitchell Street, running a red light at the corner of Mitchell and Daly Streets, before exiting the CBD via Daly and the Stuart Highway. 

Multiple witnesses rendered assistance to the victim.

The driver of the vehicle that the pedestrian was thrown into stopped at the scene and waited for police. 

Emergency Services attended and treated the male at the scene before taking him to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment of his injuries. He currently remains in a stable condition.

Police are working to identify the driver of the vehicle and are urging them to make themselves known to police.

The Northern Territory Police Force are calling for information in relation to an aggravated unlawful entry that occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

At 7.50pm, police received a report that up to 5 unknown offenders, armed with edged weapons, had smashed open the front door of a residence Schaber Road, Connellan, after arriving in what is believed to be a dark blue sedan.

Two of the offenders demanded keys from the occupants before stealing keys from a table and fleeing in the sedan.

No injuries were reported.

Multiple police units attended, and a crime scene was declared.

Strike Force Viper are continuing to investigate the incident.

The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information after an aggravated burglary occurred in the vicinity of the industrial area in Katherine East this morning.

Around 3am, police received a report that three buildings, including an armoury at a government facility had been unlawfully entered by unknown offenders in the industrial area of Katherine East.

Inside the armoury, the offenders allegedly stole an amount of ammunition, with no firearms reported stolen. NT Emergency Services was also targeted, with the offenders attempting to steal rescue equipment. The offenders fled after police responded to the alarm.

A crime scene was established, and investigations are ongoing.

Invermay man charged with firearms and drug offences

Saturday, 5 July 2025 – 10:13 am.

A man has been charged with multiple firearms and drug offences after police seized two illegal firearms, ammunition, a stolen vehicle and a quantity of drugs in a search in Bridgenorth.
Police attended and searched an address in Bridgenorth on Thursday 3 July while investigating reports that two vehicles, a grey Mitsubishi Outlander and a red Mitsubishi Mirage, had been stolen from the residence.
Subsequent investigations led to a person of interest being located and arrested a short time later.
During the search and arrest police located a .22 rifle, a loaded pistol, ammunition, one of the stolen vehicles (Mitsubishi Outlander), and a quantity of illicit drugs.
The 39-year-old Invermay man was arrested and has since been charged with multiple offences including breaches of bail, drug and firearm offences, and resisting arrest.
He was detained to appear in court at a later date.

Mental Health Australia hosted an Annual Issues and Opportunities Workshop for members of the National Register of Mental Health Consumer and Carer Representatives (National Register) and the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF).  

Over the years, these two-day workshops have supported the development of representatives’ advocacy, policy development and leadership skills of mental health consumers and carers participating in national policy initiatives. The workshops have also provided important networking opportunities for representatives.  

The 2025 Annual Issues and Opportunities Workshop was the final workshop for these two national groups. The Commonwealth Government has funded two peak bodies, one for consumers and one for carers, meaning the funding for the National Register of Mental Health Consumer and Carer Representatives (National Register) and the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) ceased as of 30 June 2025.  

The final meeting was held in Canberra on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May 2025 and was attended by 57 mental health consumer and carer representatives, and staff from Mental Health Australia.  

The theme chosen for this final Annual Workshop was Celebrating our Past and Building Our Future. The program encompassed different speakers, thought-provoking sessions on moving forward without the formal structure of the groups, and opportunities for participants to celebrate their achievements.  

This report provides highlights from the two-day event and a summary of the key themes from the workshop and through the workshop evaluation survey.

National Register of Mental Health Consumer & Carer Representatives 

Please note: The National Register program ceased on 30 June 2025.  

The National Register was established in 2007 and was a project at Mental Health Australia, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health until 30 June 2025.   

The National Register was a pool of trained mental health consumer and carer representatives from across Australia, who worked at the national level to provide a strong consumer and carer voice in the mental health sector.  

Members of the National Register used their lived experience, knowledge of the mental health system and communication skills to advocate and promote the issues and concerns of mental health consumers and carers.  

If you are seeking lived experience representatives, please contact the lived experience peak bodies: the National Mental Health Consumer Alliance and Mental Health Carers Australia.

For 23 years, the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) was the combined national voice for mental health consumers and carers participating in the development of Australian mental health sector and its services. 

The NMHCCF functioned under the auspices of Mental Health Australia. 

The NMHCCF gave mental health consumers and carers the opportunity to meet, form partnerships and be involved in the development and implementation of mental health policy reform. 

While the NMHCC has now ceased operations, you can visit the NMHCCF website to access a range of position statements, advocacy briefs, and resources.

These two-day workshops aimed to further develop the representative skills of mental health consumers and carers already participating in national policy initiatives. In particular, the workshops were designed to develop representatives’ advocacy, policy development and leadership skills. They also provided an opportunity to discuss national issues important to mental health consumers and carers, as well as network and share representative experiences.
