Forth man caught drink driving again

Monday, 15 June 2026 – 10:49 am.

A 43-year-old Forth man has been charged after being caught drink driving for potentially the third time in just over one week.
Inspector Adam Spencer said the man was most recently intercepted on William Street, Forth on Saturday.
“He was arrested for driving while disqualified and subsequently returned a breath analysis of 0.210 – more than four times the legal limit,” Inspector Spencer said.
“The first time this man was intercepted was on Friday, 5 June where he was also caught drink driving more than four times the limit and was arrested and charged.”
“He was then in a single vehicle crash two days later on Sunday, 7 June and had to be cut free from the vehicle by emergency services.”
“He was taken to the North West Regional Hospital and a blood sample was taken for analysis.”
“The man’s vehicle has now been clamped, and he will appear in court in October.”
Inspector Spencer said the repeated alleged offending highlighted the serious risk drink driving posed to the community.
“It is extremely concerning to see someone continue to make the same dangerous decision to get behind the wheel while heavily intoxicated,” he said.
“This level of offending shows a blatant disregard for the safety of other road users and emergency responders.”
“Police will continue to take strong action against those who choose to drink and drive.”
Information about dangerous driving on our roads should be reported to police at the time on 131 444, or Triple-Zero (000) in an emergency.
If matters cannot be reported at the time, footage can also be submitted to the evidence portal at police.tas.gov.au/report.

CFA members have gathered with dignitaries and community members to officially open the Wendouree Satellite Station and celebrate the new next generation pumper.

The Wendouree Satellite Station at 51 Selkirk Drive will further support CFA’s response across Wendouree, Ballarat, Invermay, Miners Rest and surrounding areas.

The centrally located site will have a multibrigade response model for members who live or work in the area, benefiting volunteers and the local community.

Wendouree Fire Brigade Captain, Rob Hurley, said the benefits of having the satellite station will be seen in the community.

“The opening of this station will allow for more efficient responses,” he said.

“It is a good example of problem solving at CFA and I know the members who turn out from here will welcome the opportunity.”

On Saturday a new Next Generation Pumper was also handed over to the Wendouree Fire Brigade.

The pumper is the first off the production line of the 28 Next Generation Pumpers being built with a local manufacturer.

The new pumpers will be capable of delivering 4,000 litres of water per minute compared to 3,000 litres in older models.

Built on a Scania cab-chassis platform, each vehicle is configured to carry a crew of five firefighters, the ability to integrate breathing apparatus sets in the rear seats, and all the necessary equipment and tools to operate on a fireground.

Rob Hurley said the new pumper would be a huge asset for the brigade.

“We are all very excited to welcome it into our ranks,” Rob said.

“It’s got a lot of new equipment on board and having the breathing apparatus equipment in the back will definitely speed things up at an incident.”

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan AFSM attended the opening and said he was excited to see the satellite station project come to fruition, along with a new truck.

“The additional station will improve service delivery in this area and will allow the brigade to continue doing what they do best; protecting lives and property,” Jason said.

“The brigade is also the first to receive the new next generation pumper which will be an incredible asset for many years to come.”

People moving more, smoking less, but health pressures remain across Loddon Campaspe Region

Source: State of Victoria Local Government 2

The 2025 Active Living Census results have revealed Loddon Campaspe residents are moving more and smoking less than Victorian benchmarks, but many are also reporting food insecurity, poorer health, lower life satisfaction, and risky drinking.

More than 8000 residents took part in the Census between 26 May and 6 July 2025, which collected data on matters such as physical activity, access to nutritious food, public open space use and risky behaviours.

Conducted by the City of Greater Bendigo as part of the Victorian Government-funded Healthy Loddon Campaspe (HLC) initiative, the Census helps to understand health and wellbeing across the six local government areas in the region, including the City of Greater Bendigo, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Loddon, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires.

It builds on previous censuses undertaken in Greater Bendigo in 2014 and across the Loddon Campaspe region in 2019, helping to understand how health and wellbeing and community needs have changed over time.

Compared with Victorian and national benchmarks, the Census found lower rates of smoking, vaping, gambling and daily sugar-sweetened drink consumption, and stronger results for physical activity and muscle-strengthening exercise among adults across the region.

However, it also found:

  • 31 per cent experienced some level of food insecurity
  • 25 per cent rated their health as fair or poor
  • 34 per cent recorded low to moderate life satisfaction
  • 66.5 per cent were overweight or obese
  • 58 per cent reported risky single-occasion alcohol consumption, and only
  • 10 per cent met vegetable intake recommendations

The results will be used to guide local planning, including investment in public spaces and recreation facilities, health promotion work, and will support local organisations seek resources for services and projects that respond to community needs.

Healthy Loddon Campaspe Regional Steering Group spokesperson Jess Howard said the Census data gives us much more than numbers on a page.

“It tells us what would help people live healthier and more connected lives,” Ms Howard said.

“These findings provide evidence local councils, communities and other organisations can use for partnering and investing where it matters most.”

“Good local data helps communities make better decisions.”

“Health and wellbeing is everyone’s business. The Census data helps us understand what our communities need and what partnerships and actions can have the greatest benefits.”

Healthy Loddon Campaspe has been funded by the Victorian Government to continue this important work, supporting local partners to use the Census findings to drive practical action across the region.
