A 19-year-old woman will face court today after allegedly threatening two people with weapons and stealing the car they were travelling in.

About 12pm yesterday (Sunday, 23 March 2025), the woman got into a parked car in Dickson and threatened the occupants with weapons, demanding to be driven around.

The driver complied but after a short period, the woman got into the driver’s seat and drove off with two occupants in the vehicle.

Police allege the woman then began driving dangerously through Canberra, crossing onto the wrong side of the road and driving at excessive speeds.

About 4pm, the two occupants escaped the car in Oaks Estate and about 6pm, police located the vehicle parked in an apartment complex in Reid.

The 19-year-old woman, who is currently on bail for similar offences, was located nearby at about 9.50pm and arrested.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with offences including forcible confinement, driving a motor vehicle without consent, driving while unlicenced, possessing an offensive weapon with intent, and reckless threat to inflict grievous bodily harm.

UPDATE: A 13-year-old girl was arrested yesterday (Friday, 28 March 2025) in relation to this incident. She has been charged with joint commission assault occasioning actual bodily harm and joint commission minor theft. She has also been charged with joint commission recklessly inflicting actual bodily harm in relation to an incident in Belconnen in February.

A 15-year-old boy who was subject to bail conditions for previous alleged violent offences, will face court tomorrow following the alleged assault of a 58-year-old man in Woden on Wednesday evening.

Police will allege the boy and a teenage girl physically assaulted the 58-year-old man after a minor verbal altercation on Brewer Street, Woden at about 6pm on Wednesday evening (19 March 2025).

The assault included the teens allegedly kicking and punching the man while he was on the ground.

Police attended the teen’s home last night (Saturday, 22 March 2025) and arrested him to face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breach of bail. He is expected to appear in the ACT Childrens Court tomorrow (Monday, 24 March 2025).

Efforts to locate the teenage girl involved in the incident are continuing.

A 24-year-old man has been charged following the shooting of another man in North Lyneham yesterday.

About 12.20pm yesterday (Friday, 21 March 2025) ACT Policing was called to assist ACT Ambulance Service paramedics in Florey who were responding to a man who had received minor wounds from shotgun pellets.

After speaking to the man, police attended a residence in North Lyneham (where it is believed the incident occurred) and at about 1.40pm a 24-year-old man who was nearby was taken into custody in relation to the shooting.

Search warrant activity was conducted in North Lyneham last night.

The 24-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with discharge a firearm – endanger life and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 22 March 2025).

Members from ACT Policing’s Territory Targeting Team (TTT) commenced an investigation after receiving information about alleged illicit drug cultivation and distribution at a residence in Lyneham.

About 10am yesterday (2 April 2025), TTT officers, with the help of members from AFP K9, Exhibit Management Centre and AFP Forensic Search & Imagery, executed a search warrant at the Lyneham home.

On entry, officers located four mature cannabis plants in the backyard standing over two meters tall. It is believed the plants had been growing at this location for a number of years.

As a result of the search warrant, police seized the four large cannabis plants, a significant quantity of dried cannabis, a small bag containing a white substance believed to be cocaine and approximately $13,000 in cash.

At this time no charges have been laid and enquiries into the seized items are continuing.

ACT Policing reminds the community that while cannabis possession laws changed in 2020, it remains a criminal offence to possess cannabis in greater quantities than permitted.

Early morning speeding drivers were targeted by City Station officers early today.

Five drivers who were all heading east on Parkes Way towards the City were caught by a general duties team between 4.45am and 5.30am, with the highest speed of 116km/h in a 90km/h zone recorded.

• A white Ford Courier utility driven by a 28-year-old Kambah man, was detected travelling 106km/h in a sign posted 90 km/h speed limit area.

• A Volkswagen Tiguan SUV driven by a 28-year-old man from Belconnen, was detected travelling at 116km/h in a sign posted 90 km/h speed limit area.

• A Toyota Rav 4 driven by a 42-year-old man from Kaleen, was detected travelling 108km/h in a sign posted 90 km/h speed limit area.

• A Toyota Kluger driven by a 65-year-old man driver from Higgins, was detected travelling 103km/h in a sign posted 90 km/h speed limit area.

• A Nissan Pulsar driven by a 41-year-old man from McKellar, was detected travelling 105km/h in a sign posted 90 km/h speed limit area.

All five drivers will be issued with infringement notices incurring one to three demerit points and fines of $326 or $484.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to identify two men who allegedly sexually harassed a woman before committing an act of indecency.

About 3.30pm on Thursday 20 March 2025, two men separately approached a woman unknown to them at Kambah pool.

Police allege both men made inappropriate comments to the woman and encouraged her to go to the nudist beach section with them, before one allegedly committed an indecent act nearby.

Today, police are releasing face-fit images of the two men and seeking the public’s assistance to identify them.

A 51-year-old Crestwood (NSW) man has been charged with more than 50 family violence offences alleged to have occurred over a nine-year period.

In 2023 and 2024 information was received by police in relation to alleged family violence offending by the man against his former partner, two sons and a step-son.

On Saturday (29 March 2025) an arrest warrant was issued by the ACT Magistrates Court and later that day, the 51-year-old man was located in Lyneham and arrested.

He faces more than 50 charges including:

• Common assault x 15
• Assault occasioning actual bodily harm x 19
• Attempt common assault x 3
• Threat to cause grievous bodily harm x 3
• Demand accompanied by threat x 1
• Neglect x 2
• Intentional threat to kill x 6
• Threaten a participant in criminal investigation x 1
• Act endangering health x 1
• Possession of offensive weapon and disabling substance with intent x 4

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 31 March 2025).

A 33-year-old man has been charged with multiple driving and drug offences following a collision on Hindmarsh Drive yesterday afternoon.

About 3.35pm yesterday (Sunday, 30 March 2025), police responded to reports that a stolen black Mercedes Benz sedan bearing NSW number plates DGN 49T had collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Hindmarsh Drive in Symonston.

Prior to the collision police allege the driver, a 33-year-old man, allegedly drove through several intersections against red lights along Hindmarsh Drive, Symonston.

The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to hospital for head and limb injuries.

After the collision, the man fled on foot, with a witness giving chase over an extended distance across the Monaro Highway and through a number of backyards. Whilst doing so, the witness saw the man drop a backpack.

In a nearby backyard, the witness apprehended the driver with police arresting him a short time later.

Following enquiries, the witness showed police to the location of the backpack. It was found to contain a trafficable amount of illicit drugs, a large amount of Australian currency, weapons including a machete and flick knife as well as paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The 33-year-old man was a parolee from NSW.

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Monday, 31 March 2025) to face charges of driving a stolen motor vehicle, driving under the influence of a prescribed drug, negligent driving occasioning actual bodily harm, unlicenced driving, trafficking in controlled drugs, possession of proceeds of crime and other traffic offences.

Police are requesting anyone who may have footage of the Mercedes Benz yesterday afternoon to come forward.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and footage to a shooting incident that occurred in Watson last night.

About 10.30pm (Saturday, 29 March 2025), police and emergency services received a report that a man had been shot in the stomach at a residence on Knox Street, Watson.

The man was taken to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service in a serious condition.

The offenders reportedly took off after the shooting in a dark vehicle, believed to be an Audi.

Following an examination of the scene, police determined that the property was also shot at several times in a second incident which is believed to have occurred recently.

Police believe these shootings are targeted incidents.

Any witnesses to either of the two shootings, or anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area is urged to come forward.
