Two arrested following pursuit

Two people have been arrested following a car theft and pursuit yesterday afternoon.

Before 7.00am yesterday (Sunday, 8 June 2025) a blue Volvo was allegedly stolen from a home in Crace.

About 2.30pm police spotted a vehicle driving in an erratic manner in Braddon and confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle.

About 2.40pm police initiated a pursuit with the Volvo which continued through multiple Tuggeranong suburbs.

The vehicle proceeded down a green belt into Monash and police lost sight of the vehicle soon after.

About 2.50pm the stolen vehicle was located abandoned in Monash with witnesses providing a description of the two individuals, who had exited the vehicle.

About 3.00pm police located the two individuals an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were then arrested.

The 18-year-old man will will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 9 June 2025) charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without consent, aggravated dangerous driving, unlicenced driver (licence never held), and two counts of unlawfully trespass on premises.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing, and further charges may be laid.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a man who is suffering from memory loss. This man believes his name is Daniel and is believed to be in his 30’s.

About 3.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, 18 June 2025) Daniel arrived at the Griffin Centre in Civic. He appeared to be confused, and a short time later was transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm (5’7”) tall, of slim build, with blue eyes, red/blonde hair.

When he was found in the City yesterday he was wearing a yellow/green coloured t-shirt and grey coloured trousers. He was not wearing any shoes.

Daniel believes he may drive a white vehicle, live in south Canberra or NSW and possibly work in an IT or data related field.

Anyone who can assist police in identifying Daniel is urged to contact ACT Policing on 131 444.

Man charged following aggravated robbery

A 30-year-old Macgregor man has been arrested after allegedly threating staff at the Woden JB Hi-Fi store with a butane blowtorch.

About 3.00pm on Tuesday (17 June 2025), staff witnessed a man pick up a display vacuum and begin carrying it around the store. When approached by staff the man allegedly held up a butane blowtorch towards staff and threatened them.

The man then allegedly left the store with the vacuum after again threatening security staff.

About 9.45am yesterday (Wednesday, 19 June 2025) officers from Woden Police Station arrested the man while he was in a bathroom at Westfield Woden.

He was charged with aggravated robbery (offensive weapon) and is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates court today (Thursday 19 June 2025).

Four charged with family violence offences in separate incidents

Four people will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly committing family violence offences.

A 39-year-old Greenway man has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and contravening a family violence order after allegedly throwing items at his partner and assaulting her in two separate incidents last week.

A 47-year-old Palmerston man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly driving erratically with his partner and two children in the vehicle and later assaulting his partner at their home on Saturday (14 June 2025).

Both men were arrested by police yesterday.

About 11:15pm last night, an 18-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly kicking, hitting, and spitting on her former partner while in a parked car in Bonner.

In another incident last night, a 40-year-old Macgregor man was arrested after allegedly punching his partner and then assaulting their daughter while she recorded the incident.

They have both been charged with two counts of aggravated common assault. The 40-year-old man has also been charged with aggravated property damage.

Man charged with assaulting a police officer

A 25-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer while at the ACT Watch House yesterday afternoon.

About 2pm yesterday (Tuesday, 17 June 2025), police attended Canberra Airport following reports of a man acting erratically in the terminal.

Officers spoke to the man and determined he was intoxicated. When no care could be arranged for the man, he was taken into custody for his own protection.

The man then became violent and aggressive while at the ACT Watch House, allegedly kicking an officer in the face and chest.

He has been charged with assaulting a frontline community service provider and property damage. He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 18 June 2025).

Man and boy charged following home invasion

A 21-year-old man and 17-year-old boy will face court today after allegedly breaking into a home, assaulting the occupant and fleeing from police.

About 8:30am yesterday (Monday, 16 June 2025), police responded to reports of a group of males breaking into a unit on MacArthur Avenue in Turner.

Police allege the group gained access to the unit and assaulted the male occupant, resulting in injuries that required hospitalisation.

When officers arrived, three males fled the scene on foot towards Northbourne Avenue. During the pursuit, the 17-year-old boy ran onto the road and allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle but was unsuccessful.

After a search, the man and boy were found hiding under cars at a building on Northbourne Avenue and arrested.

The boy was charged with aggravated burglary, attempting to take a motor vehicle without consent, and joint commission recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear before the ACT Childrens Court today (Tuesday, 17 June 2025).

Man to face court after threatening neighbour

A 41-year-old Theodore man will face court today after allegedly ramming a neighbour’s vehicle and threatening her with a sledgehammer.

About 4.00pm yesterday (Monday, 16 June 2025), the 41-year-old man allegedly rammed his neighbour’s car with his own before exiting his vehicle and verbally abusing her.

The man then grabbed a sledgehammer and returned to his neighbour’s property but was scared off by another man.

Officers arrived a short time later and attempted to speak to the man, but he refused to engage with police.

Police later entered the man’s home and arrested him. He has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and property damage, and is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 17 June 2025).

Police seeking witnesses to acts of indecency on public transport

ACT Policing is seeking information about alleged acts of indecency committed against girls on public transport in Weston Creek.

Police have received information regarding a man who takes photos of girls while on the bus between Rivett, Woden and the City.

The man is described as Indian or Middle Eastern in appearance with a heavy build, straight grey and dark hair, and a grey beard.

Police believe this man may have also been involved in the attempted sexual assault of a teenage girl in Rivett on Tuesday evening near Bangalay Crescent.

Man charged after spitting at police

A 39-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly refusing to provide blood alcohol sample and spitting at officers.

About 6:15pm yesterday (Sunday, 15 June 2025), police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Torrens.

When police arrived, a man was attempting to leave the residence in a white Mitsubishi SUV. Officers stopped the vehicle and requested that the man undergo a breath analysis, but he allegedly refused multiple times. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House.

While at the Watch House, the man continued to be belligerent toward police, spitting at and physically assaulting multiple officers.

The man was charged with four counts of assaulting a frontline community service provider and refusing to provide an oral fluid sample.

Man subject to good behaviour order charged with multiple traffic offences

A 40-year-old Narrabundah man will face court tomorrow morning charged with multiple traffic offences after he allegedly failed to stop for police on a stolen dirt bike.

About 9pm last night (Saturday, 14 June 2025), police observed an orange and black KTM dirt bike not displaying a registration plate while travelling on Drakeford Drive in Oxley.

Upon police verbally directing and activating their lights in an attempt to get the bike to stop, the rider – alleged to be the 40-year-old man – rode away and failed to stop.

A short time later police observed the dirt bike dumped on a green belt next to Ashley Drive.

An AFP Canine unit located the man hiding in bushes nearby where he was subsequently arrested. He was subjected to a drug screening test and oral fluid analysis, which the man refused to undertake.

Police checks confirmed the KTM dirt bike was stolen, and the man did not hold a driver’s licence

The man – who was subject to a good behaviour order – will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (16 June 2025) charged with riding a motor vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, refusing to undergo a screening test, refusing to provide an oral fluid sample, unlicenced driver – licence never held and riding a unregistered vehicle.
