A 45-year-old Greenway man will face court today charged with drug trafficking offences after search warrants were executed in Greenway and Duffy yesterday.

In April (2025), officers from Tuggeranong Police Station began an investigation into the man’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking and participating in a criminal group in the ACT.

Yesterday (Wednesday, 13 August 2025), officers executed search warrants on a vehicle and at residences in Greenway and Duffy where police seized:

• Ammunition
• Knuckle dusters
• Drug paraphernalia
• Prescription drugs
• Approximately 28.5 grams of methylamphetamines
• Approximately 27.5 grams of heroin
• Approximately $860
• Paperwork believed to track his drug sales

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $30,000.

Police will allege the man has an ongoing customer base who rely on his supply of drugs.

The man – who was subject to good behaviour obligations from previous court convictions – was charged with two counts of drug trafficking, possessing a prohibited weapon, possession of ammunition, possessions of a declared substance without authorisiation and possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

He is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 14 August 2025).

ACT Policing has charged three teenagers after they allegedly drew Nazi symbols in a shopping centre bathroom.

On the evening of Thursday 19 June (2025), police were called to a bathroom at the South.Point shopping centre after graffiti depicting prohibited Nazi symbols was discovered.

Police located 18 Nazi Hakenkreuz symbols and three references to Adolf Hitler drawn on the walls of the bathroom.

Following an investigation by officers from Tuggeranong Police Station, police charged a 16-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman each with the Commonwealth offence of cause Nazi symbol to be displayed. This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment.

The 17-year-old and 18-year-old were also charged with trespass and defacing public property.

The 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman – who was underage at the time of the alleged offending – faced the ACT Childrens court on Monday (11 August 2025), while the 16-year-old boy is expected to face the ACT Childrens Court on 3 November (2025).

The display of prohibited symbols is an offence and will not be tolerated by ACT Policing. Anyone in the community with information about the display of prohibited symbols is encouraged to make a report to police.

A 28-year-old man has been extradited from NSW after failing to appear before court on a child sex offence charge.

The man was arrested in December 2024 after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child known to him.

He was charged with committing an act of indecency on a child under 10 and was bailed to appear before court in June 2025.

After he failed to appear, a warrant for his arrest was issued and in August, police identified he was living on the NSW south coast.

With assistance from New South Wales Police Force, the man was arrested in Nowra yesterday (Tuesday, 12 August 2025) and extradited to the ACT.

He is due to appear before the ACT Supreme Court today (Wednesday, 13 August 2025).

A 34-year-old Lyons man has been arrested following a pursuit through Weston Creek early today.

About 4.20am this morning (Wednesday, 27 August 2025) police were patrolling Waramanga when they encountered a silver Holden Commodore sedan. The driver of the Commodore failed to stop for police and a pursuit was commenced.

During the pursuit, the Commodore crossed to the wrong side of the road, exceeded the speed limit and repeatedly drove without headlights. Police deployed stop sticks and the Commodore eventually came to a stop after colliding with a Stop sign near Cooleman Court. The vehicle was driving on its rims when it collided with the sign.

A 34-year-old Lyons man, who was subject to an arrest warrant by the Sentencing Administration board, was subsequently arrested nearby.  A female passenger was also arrested at the scene.

The man was charged with aggravated reckless driving, driving while disqualified and failure to stop for police. He is expected to face court later today.

Police have seized drugs, ammunition and a modified firearm following the arrest of a man last Friday in Acton.

About 7am on Friday (22 August 2025), officers from City Police Station were conducting patrols in Acton when they observed a white Fiat 500 driving on a bicycle path.

A vehicle check indicated that the Fiat was reported stolen. Officers activated their lights and sirens, however the vehicle failed to stop.

A short time later, police lost sight of the man when he exited the Fiat and entered the driver’s seat of a white Mazda 3. About 7:30am, police located the man in Acton and he was arrested a short time later in a parking complex.

Soon after, police located a backpack the man had allegedly discarded that contained drugs, cash and tools.

The man – who was subject to bail conditions for drug trafficking at the time of his arrest – was charged with failing to stop for police, drive motor vehicle without consent, resist arrest, drug trafficking and going equipped for theft.

Yesterday (Sunday, 24 August 2025) a search warrant was conducted on a black Mercedes linked to the man. Officers from ACT Criminal Investigations subsequently located approximately 590 grams of heroin, approximately 170 grams of methylamphetamine, 200 12-gauge shot gun cartridges and a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle.

The man will face additional charges in relation to the seized drugs, ammunition and firearm.

This is a significant disruption to the sale of thousands of ‘hits’ of illicit drugs in the ACT.  The ACT saw more than 20 deaths last year believed to be as a result of opioids including heroin. ACT Policing will continue to work to identify and charge those individuals and groups seeking to profit from the misery that illicit drugs can bring.

ACT Policing arrested five Canberrans yesterday with various family violence offences, including assault, confinement and property damage.

In one incident, a 33-year-old Reid man was charged with aggravated common assault occasioning actual bodily harm after allegedly striking his ex-partner in the face.

Also, a 53-year-old Rivett man has been charged with aggravated common assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated common assault and forcible confinement. Police will allege the man threw a bucket of water at his wife, pushed her from behind causing the woman to fall and threatening to lock her in a chicken cage in their backyard.

A 36-year-old Palmerston man was charged after allegedly strangling his partner.

In the other two incidents, a 30-year-old Banks woman and a 31-year-old Chisolm man were charged after allegedly assaulting their partners. The man was also charged with property damage.

All offenders are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 25 August 2025).

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an alleged sexual assault that occurred in a bar on Genge Street earlier this month.

About 12.45am on Saturday 9 August (2025), officers the Territory Targeting Team were conducting patrols on Bunda Street when they were flagged down by security staff from a licenced premises on Genge Street.

The security reported two males had been removed from the bar after allegedly making repeated unwanted advances and inappropriately touching female patrons.

A short time later, officers identified the two males, spoke with them and obtained their details, before they were released pending further enquiries.

The men are described as South Asian in appearance with one wearing a yellow jumper and the other wearing a white jumper at the time of the incidents.
