The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested an 37-year-old following reports a male was in the Galiwinku community selling Kava.

Around 1pm on Friday, May 29, Galiwinku members conducted searches of two addresses. A 37-year-old male was located at one of the addresses in possession of a trafficable quantity of Kava and was arrested.

The Kava seized weighed a total of 11.9kg with a street value of $11,900. He was refused bail and conveyed to Darwin on Saturday. 

He has been charged with possess trafficable amount of Kava and remanded to appear in court today.

Casuarina General Duties and Strike Force Trident have arrested two males in relation to an aggravated robbery in Karama overnight.

Around 12:25am the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a 61-year-old male had been allegedly assaulted.

It is alleged that a group of offenders, travelling in a black camry, followed the victim home from a service station in Malak.

As the victim exited his car, two offenders with their faces covered approached and threatened him with edged weapons.

The 61-year-old returned to his vehicle where he was allegedly assaulted with one of the weapons, his vehicle was damaged and several items were stolen. The victim suffered an injury to his hand which did not require medical treatment. 

Casuarina GDs and SF Trident members responded and at 4:05am located and seized the offenders’ vehicle.

A 28-year-old male and 48-year-old male were arrested and charges are expected later today.

The Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) has suspended a nine day multi-agency land search for a missing 31-year-old in remote East Arnhem following extensive operations.

On Friday 22 May 2026, police received a report from his family that he had not returned to Yirrkala as planned and had not been seen since 6am that morning.

His vehicle has since been located around 86km south of Nhulunbuy along the Central Arnhem Highway.

There is currently no evidence of suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement.

Search operations were conducted over nine days in remote and challenging terrain south of Nhulunbuy using helicopters, ground search teams, ATVs, vehicles and thermal drones.

NTPF Search and Rescue members, local police, NT Emergency Service, NT Fire and Rescue Service, Dhimurru Rangers, Yirralka Rangers, NORFORCE and Nautilus Helicopters were all mobilised.

Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Hall said, “Our teams covered approximately 1,311km² of terrain, the majority by helicopter, with key areas searched multiple times.

“We began demobilisation of the search yesterday, with extensive investigative enquiries surrounding the missing person undertaken, with no confirmed sightings or evidence of his location identified.

“Family liaison was maintained throughout the operation, with the next of kin regularly briefed on search progress and SAR decision-making processes.

“Police would also like to acknowledge and thank Parks Australia, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Rio Tinto, community volunteers, chartered aviation companies, Miwatj Aboriginal Corporation and Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation for their assistance during the search.

“Investigations into the  disappearance remain ongoing and police will assess any new information received and will consider recommencing search operations should credible information come to light.”

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and northerly winds are expected during Monday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Lower South East forecast district. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

Weather Situation: A deep low-pressure system is forecast to track eastward near the South Australian coast on Monday before moving over Bass Strait on Tuesday, bringing strong to gale-force westerly winds and elevated sea levels.

ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES which may lead to sea water flooding of low-lying coastal areas possible between Head of the Bight and the SA/VIC border, including Kangaroo Island. Tides are likely to rise well above the normal high tide mark during the Tuesday afternoon high tide.

Locations which may be affected include Ceduna, Elliston, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Wakefield, Adelaide Metro Beaches, Victor Harbor, Kingston SE, Robe, and Port MacDonnell.

The State Emergency Service advises the following:
* Unusually high tides are dangerous to swimmers, surfers and rock fishers. Stay away from coastal areas until conditions subside.
* Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks. Monitor warnings and conditions. Supervise children at all times.
* If you have a moored boat or watercraft, check that your mooring and lines are secure.
* Be aware that unusually high tides could cause flooding at the coast.
* You should never walk, ride or drive through floodwater.

Weather Situation: A complex low pressure system will approach western Victoria on Monday moving over Bass Strait during Tuesday, bringing strong to gale-force west to northwesterly winds and elevated sea levels across western and parts of the central coasts.

ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES which may lead to sea water flooding of low-lying coastal areas are possible between the SA/VIC border and Point Lonsdale. Tides are likely to rise well above the normal high tide mark during the Tuesday afternoon high tide.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Port Fairy, Ocean Grove, Apollo Bay and Nelson.

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred in Alice Springs on Friday evening.

Around 8:15pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that an off-duty police officer had been robbed by a male youth armed with an edged weapon in the Gap.

It is alleged the offender threatened the victim with the edged weapon, before stealing their wallet and fleeing the scene.

Members from Strike Force Viper and general duties responded, however, the offender remains outstanding.

he Albanese Labor Government has secured another 40 million litres of additional diesel for Queenslanders, through an agreement between Export Finance Australia (EFA) and independent supplier Freedom Fuels.

This shipment is due to arrive to Brisbane in June for onwards distribution to regional Queensland. This is in addition to 16 separate shipments already secured in partnership with Ampol, BP Australia, IOR and Viva Energy.

Combined, this brings the total amount of additional fuel shipments through the Government’s new Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility to approximately 690 million litres of diesel and approximately 150 million litres of jet fuel across 17 additional shipments.

EFA has partnered with Ampol, BP Australia, Freedom Fuels, IOR and Viva Energy to make these 17 additional cargoes of diesel and jet fuel possible so far. More shipments are expected under these agreements.

Under its Strategic Reserve powers, the Albanese Government has also now supported an additional approximately 205,000 tonnes of agricultural grade urea through agreements between EFA, CSBP and Incitec Pivot.

Through these measures and ongoing negotiations with industry, the Albanese Government is securing essential fuel and fertiliser supplies to safeguard Australians from the impacts of continuing global volatility, and to keep our nation and our people moving.
