ACT Policing is seeking to identify a man to assist in the investigation into an incident that occurred in March this year.

Earlier this year police received a report of an incident that occurred at Hopscotch bar on Lonsdale Street in Braddon on the evening of 16 March 2024.

Following investigations including review of CCTV and consideration of witness statements, police are now seeking public assistance to identify a man who may be able to assist with this investigation.

The man is described as Caucasian with facial hair. He was wearing leather shoes, jeans, a t-shirt and a cap. His sunglasses were hanging off the front of his t-shirt.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault in Braddon yesterday where two men attacked another man.

About 8.20am (Monday, 30 September 2024), two men entered the garage of a home in Braddon and assaulted a male resident before fleeing in a silver Ford Ranger.

Police and emergency services arrived a short time later and the man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The vehicle was located nearby and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

ACT Policing is seeking any witnesses or dash-cam footage of the silver Ford Ranger in the following areas around 8.20am.

• Batman Street
• Currong Street North
• Founders Lane

A 23-year-old Belconnen man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with multiple family violence offences and assaulting police.

Police allege that over the course of several weeks, the man assaulted a woman known to him a number of times.

On one occasion in early September, the man allegedly struck the woman multiple times on her face and body, resulting in the woman sustaining serious rib injuries.

In another incident, the man allegedly attempted to engage in a verbal altercation with the woman, and when she attempted to remove herself from the situation, he allegedly choked her and dragged her by the throat.

Yesterday morning (30 September 2024) the man allegedly threw a remote at the woman’s back and head after attempting to engage in another verbal altercation. When the woman attempted to leave, the man allegedly grabbed her by the neck and choked her.

About 11.25am yesterday morning, police subsequently arrested the man at a residence in Belconnen.

Upon being lodged in the ACT Watch House, the man allegedly damaged CCTV cameras, rendering them unusable for observation. He then allegedly further damaged the intercom system.

As police attempted to engage with the man in relation to his actions, he allegedly spat in the face of a police officer.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of choking, suffocating, and strangling another person, aggravated common assault, using a carriage service to harass, damaging Commonwealth property, and assaulting a police officer.

ACT Policing is seeking community assistance to locate three vehicles stolen from a residence earlier this morning.

Following calls from the public from about 6.15am today (Sunday, 29 September 2024) police have engaged with three vehicles now known to have all been stolen from an address in Yarralumla.

Police are now seeking community assistance to locate the three vehicles:

• A silver 2023 Aston Martin DB11 Volante  – ACT registration AYAG58A
• A silver 2018 Bentley Bentayga SUV ACT registration AYAF76Y
• A dark silver 2018 Porsche Macan SUV – ACT registration YNA76Z

The vehicles have been observed in Belconnen suburbs but may be located anywhere in the ACT.

ACT Policing is asking if anyone sees any of the vehicles, that they do not approach them and call police.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and information following a series of assaults and robberies at a dance party near the Sutton Road in Kowen Forest early today.

About 2.45am this morning (Sunday, 29 September 2024) police and emergency services were called to a dance party being held in the Kowen Forest following reports of assaults and robbery.

Upon police attendance, victims and witnesses indicated a group of men of Pacific Islander appearance attended the party in a silver van and began demanding cash and items of value from party goers.

The offenders were dressed in black and the group arrived and departed the scene in the silver van.

Multiple robbery and assault victims were identified by police and two people were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

ACT Policing is seeking any information from party goers who have who have not already provided their details and from anyone who saw a silver van in the area prior to, or after, 2.45am near Sutton Road.

Two men have been charged with firearms offences following search warrant activity at two business premises in Mitchell yesterday.  

In September (2024) Australian Border Force officials intercepted items believed to be used in the manufacture of firearms which were destined for addresses in the ACT. Information gathered as part of the interception was referred to ACT Policing and an investigation was commenced by Gungahlin general duties officers.  

Yesterday morning (Friday, 27 September 2024) police executed search warrants at two business premises in Mitchell. During the searches police located multiple items used to create firearms including firearm bolts, barrels, metal cutout pieces in the shape of firearms, a barrel ‘reaming’ tool and a gel blaster pistol.  

A 47-year-old Mitchell man (who had previously had his firearms confiscated and his firearms licence cancelled due to a family violence assault conviction) was subsequently charged with three counts of unauthorised possession of 3-9 firearms and one count of unauthorised manufacture of firearms.  

A 43-year-old Macgregor man (who had previously had his firearms licence cancelled due to firearms offences) was charged with the unauthorised manufacture of firearms.  

Both men are scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 28 September 2024).  

Enquiries in relation to this matter are continuing and further charges may be laid.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage of a two vehicle collision that occurred earlier this month on the Tuggeranong Parkway.

About 7.55pm on Saturday, 14 September 2024, police and emergency services responded to a collision between a Toyota Hiace van and a Toyota Corolla sedan in the southbound lanes of the Tuggeranong Parkway, between Cotter Road and Hindmarsh Drive.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage that captures the incident.

A 53-year-old man will face court today after allegedly stealing a bag with keys to several vehicles from an O’Connor business and climbing into a ceiling cavity to evade police.

About 7pm yesterday (Thursday, 26 September 2024), a business owner discovered a bag containing several car keys he had placed in the premises earlier that day had gone missing.

Using a GPS tracking device, the owner located the bag and with two other men, attended an address in the CBD where the bag was believed to be.

The men confronted the 53-year-old man who was at the address and he fled the scene. The owner then reported the matter to police.

Officers located the man at the Jolimont Centre on Northbourne Avenue and after observing broken glass and dislodged ceiling tiles in a nearby business, believed the man was hiding in the ceiling cavity.

With assistance from an AFP canine team, police directed the man to surrender.

The man ignored police directions and instead broke through the ceiling of a hotel lobby in the building before fleeing the scene.

After a short foot pursuit, police apprehended the man nearby. A search of his personal belongings uncovered the stolen bag containing the car keys.

He has been charged with two counts of burglary and property damage and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
