ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident in Namadgi National Park overnight.

About 6.30am this morning (Tuesday, 18 March 2025), police and emergency services responded to a report that a woman had been located at the Namadgi National Park visitor centre.

Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

At this stage, police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the ACT community.

Anyone in the vicinity of the Namadgi National Park visitor centre between 5.30pm Monday and 6.15am Tuesday, or anyone with dashcam footage or who observed suspicious activity along Naas Road overnight, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. ACT Policing is seeking to identify a man to assist in the investigation into an alleged assault that occurred in a City nightclub last month.

About 11:00pm on Saturday 15 February (2025), a patron of a City nightclub was allegedly assaulted by a man.

Following inquiries police would like to speak to the man in this image or anyone who knows this man. Police believe this man has information that can assist with the investigation.

A 24-year-old man has been extradited from Victoria where he fled after allegedly assaulting his partner.

About 9pm on 9 January 2025, police allege the man assaulted his partner at her residence in Phillip, strangling her and striking her in the head repeatedly.

The incident was reported to police a short time later and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Despite efforts by police, the man was unable to be located in the ACT and a warrant was issued for his arrest on 15 January 2025.

Following an investigation by the Domestic and Family Violence Investigation Unit and with assistance from Victoria Police, the man was located at a residence in Wodonga, Victoria on Saturday (15 March 2025) where he was arrested.

He was extradited to the ACT and is due to appear before the Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 18 March 2025), charged with family violence offences including four counts of common assault, choking a person and rendering them insensible, and contravening a family violence order.

A 19-year-old Higgins man who tried to evade police after performing a burnout in the car park of the Belconnen Police Station will face court today.

At about 8.40pm yesterday (Monday, 17 March) police will allege a group with trail bikes were performing burnouts in the Belconnen car park before one man rode up to the front doors of the station on a yellow Suzuki motorcycle before riding back to the car park.

Police attempted to approach the group before they rode away from the station ignoring police directions to stop. A short time later police then observed one of the bikes on its side on Chan Street in Belconnen and the rider attempting to get back on the bike. Police will allege he then rode over a garden bed before falling off the bike again.

He was subsequently arrested while he was attempting to get back on the bike and charged with failing to stop a motor vehicle for police and aggravated/furious/reckless/dangerous driving.

The yellow Suzuki trail bike was unregistered at the time and the 19-year-old was subject to good behaviour obligations. He will front the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

A 31-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stealing several energy drinks and donuts from a store and assaulting an employee while trying to flee.

About 2pm on Saturday (15 March 2025), the man arrived at a petrol station in Spence and took the items without attempting to pay.

When confronted by staff members, the man allegedly became aggressive and punched another man in the head several times, causing facial injuries.

The matter was reported to police and about 3.40pm, police located the man on a motorcycle on Kingsford Smith Drive, in breach of his bail conditions.

Officers arrested the man and located stolen items in his bag. He was conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with robbery, intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, and resisting police.

He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 17 March 2025).

A P-plate motorcyclist who was ‘late for a university lecture’ will be without his licence for the next six months after being caught driving at 161 kilometres per hour on the Majura Parkway.

About 11.40am yesterday (Friday 14 March), ACT Policing Road Policing officers detected the 20-year-old Casey man riding his Kawasaki motorcycle 61 kilometres per hour above the posted 100 kilometre per hour speed limit on the parkway in Majura.

The man – the holder of a provisional licence – told officers he was running late for his university lecture.

The choice to travel at excessive speed has cost the man $1841 as well as six demerit points which means he won’t be able to legally drive in the ACT for the next 180 days.

ACT Policing reminds the community there is no excuse for speeding.

The ACT has recorded its second road fatality for 2025 following a collision between a bus and motorcycle earlier this week.

About 8am on Tuesday (11 March 2025), police and emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a bus and motorcycle at the intersection of the Barton Highway and Gold Creek Road in Nicholls.

The 22-year-old female motorcyclist was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Sadly, she was declared deceased this morning (Friday, 14 March 2025).

ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of the collision and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
