Man charged with indecent assault following public incidents

A 42-year-old man has been arrested following several alleged acts of indecency on women in Canberra City this month.

About 4pm on Saturday, 13 September (2025), a woman was allegedly indecently assaulted by the man inside a grocery store in the City.

In another incident, about 5:30pm on Monday, 15 September (2025), a woman was walking with her boyfriend along Alinga Street in the City when she was allegedly indecently assaulted by the man.

The man was described by victims as Caucasian in appearance with short hair and aged in his 30s or 40s.

Following an investigation, police attended a residence in Turner and subsequently arrested a 42-year-old man.

He has been charged with two acts of indecency without consent and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 22 September 2025). The investigation into the man’s actions is continuing and further charges may be laid.

Three charged after allegedly making demands with threats

ACT Policing has charged three men after they allegedly made demands with threats to a man regarding a business debt.

About 7:30pm yesterday (Sunday, 21 September 2025) police responded to reports of a 52- year-old man who had been allegedly kidnapped by three men from Garran.

Police will allege three men, aged 29, 31 and 36 agreed to meet the 52-year-old man at the Garran shops before threatening him verbally and with a baseball bat to recover a business debt.

The men then allegedly forcibly confined the man in a vehicle and travelled to a Garran residence and later to Monash.

Officers located the victim and three alleged offenders in Monash, and they were subsequently arrested.

One man was charged with demands accompanied by threats to endanger health. The other two were charged with joint commission make demand with threat to endanger health.

They are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 22 September 2025).
