ACT Policing is seeking to identify a man who is believed to have taken a sum of cash and property from a train last month.

About 10.00pm on Friday, 1 November 2024, the man disembarked a train that arrived from Sydney at the Kingston Railway Station.

A short time later, the man allegedly got back onto the train and stole a bag of property and a sum of cash, before taking off.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 180cm (5’11”) tall, with a medium build, and is bald.

He was wearing dark shoes, black pants, a white t-shirt, and a grey cap at the time of the incident.

Police would urge this man to present himself to the nearest police station.

A 39-year-old man from Ngunnawal has had his licence suspended immediately after returning a breath analysis result more than six times over the legal alcohol limit last night.

About 8.30pm (Saturday, 21 December 2024), police responded to reports of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Mirrabei Drive and Bernard Heinze Avenue, Moncrieff.

Upon arrival, the driver of a black Holden Commodore – one of the vehicles involved in the collision – attempted to walk away from the area when police approached him.

Shortly after, he was subjected to a roadside alcohol screening test which returned a positive result. He was subsequently taken to Gungahlin Police Station to undergo a Breath Analysis Test where he recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reading of 0.306 – more than six times the legal limit.

The 39-year-old was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his ACT drivers licence for 90 days, and was served a Court Attendance Notice to appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court on a charge of drink driving.

Drivers are reminded that roadside alcohol or drug screening can happen anywhere and at any time, and that impaired drivers continue to be in the sights of ACT Policing throughout December.

ACT Policing is seeking to identify a male who allegedly robbed a teenager on a bus late last year.

About 6pm on Friday, 22 November 2024, the male – who was wearing a black hat and mirrored sunglasses – approached a teenager at the Woden Bus Interchange where they had a short conversation, before getting onto the same bus.

A short time later, police allege the male approached the teenager who was seated on the bus and allegedly demanded their phone, threatening them with violence.

The teenager complied, and the male completed a factory reset on the phone before allowing them to exit the bus.

He is described as African in appearance, with a slim build and was wearing silver stud earrings at the time of the incident.

Police are seeking assistance from the community to identify the male.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to identify five youths who may be involved in damaging the ACT Memorial on Ainslie Place, near London Circuit, last month.

On 28 December (2024), the large stone sphere in the centre of the memorial was dislodged from its housing.

On 29 December, the sphere was removed from its housing, causing damage to glass panels around the base, and on 30 December, the sphere had again been dislodged and had been pushed several metres towards the Canberra Centre.

About 1.50pm on Saturday, 28 December (2024) five boys were captured on CCTV cameras near the memorial before running away.

Police would like to speak to the boys, or anyone who was in the area of London Circuit near the Legislative Assembly around 2pm on Saturday 28 December 2024. Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity near the memorial between 29 and 30 December is also urged to come forward.

ACT Policing is seeking information and witnesses to a car fire on Steve Irwin Avenue, Wright last month.

About 2.30pm on Tuesday, 31 December (2024), ACT Fire & Rescue and police responded to reports of a car that was on fire in an underground carpark, next to the metro Woolworths in Wright.

The car, a blue Mazda 3, is believed to have been deliberately set on fire.

Witnesses reported seeing two young males, one who was wearing a white shirt and the other who was riding a scooter, fleeing the scene towards Gornall Street, Wright.

ACT Policing is asking residents in Wright to check CCTV and dashcams from last Tuesday afternoon for footage of any suspicious people or activity.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a woman who allegedly assaulted a worker and stole items from Bunnings Belconnen last month.

About 7.30pm on Sunday 22 December (2024), a woman allegedly entered Bunnings Belconnen and attempted to take a boxed Ryobi kit. When confronted by staff, the woman engaged in a physical altercation and allegedly spat on an employee.

The woman then left the store carrying the item she did not pay for.

ACT Policing is today releasing CCTV footage to assist in identifying the woman involved in the incident.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dashcam footage of an incident involving a black Mazda SUV and a traffic controller working as part of Summernats near EPIC.

About 12:30pm on Friday (3 January 2025) police were called to the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Flemington Road after reports that a driver of a black Mazda SUV allegedly drove at a traffic controller conducting duties for Summernats.

The Mazda is believed to have driven down the bike lane prior to traffic control members attempting to re-direct it into the queue of traffic. An argument occurred between traffic controllers and the driver of the Mazda, and it’s alleged the driver has then driven at a traffic controller before coming to a stop.

The driver of the Mazda was subsequently arrested and will face court at a later date.

At the time of the incident, there was a large queue of traffic and members of the public were observed filming the incident.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage of the incident, to come forward.

ACT Policing is seeking dashcam footage following an incident on the Tuggeranong Parkway last night.

About 9.15pm (Thursday, 2 January 2025) a dark grey or black hatchback was sighted by police driving erratically and at significant speed in the southbound lanes of the Tuggeranong Parkway heading towards Kambah.

The hatchback was not pursued due to the risk posed to other road users and police are now seeking community assistance to identify the vehicle and driver.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the dark hatchback on the Tuggeranong Parkway at approximately 9.15pm last night is urged to contact police.
