A 42-year-old man has been arrested following several alleged acts of indecency on women in Canberra City this month.
About 4pm on Saturday, 13 September (2025), a woman was allegedly indecently assaulted by the man inside a grocery store in the City.
In another incident, about 5:30pm on Monday, 15 September (2025), a woman was walking with her boyfriend along Alinga Street in the City when she was allegedly indecently assaulted by the man.
The man was described by victims as Caucasian in appearance with short hair and aged in his 30s or 40s.
Following an investigation, police attended a residence in Turner and subsequently arrested a 42-year-old man.
He has been charged with two acts of indecency without consent and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 22 September 2025). The investigation into the man’s actions is continuing and further charges may be laid.

ACT Policing has charged three men after they allegedly made demands with threats to a man regarding a business debt.
About 7:30pm yesterday (Sunday, 21 September 2025) police responded to reports of a 52- year-old man who had been allegedly kidnapped by three men from Garran.
Police will allege three men, aged 29, 31 and 36 agreed to meet the 52-year-old man at the Garran shops before threatening him verbally and with a baseball bat to recover a business debt.
The men then allegedly forcibly confined the man in a vehicle and travelled to a Garran residence and later to Monash.
Officers located the victim and three alleged offenders in Monash, and they were subsequently arrested.
One man was charged with demands accompanied by threats to endanger health. The other two were charged with joint commission make demand with threat to endanger health.
They are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 22 September 2025).

Two Fairfield (NSW) men have been charged following the alleged assault of two referees at a Rugby 7s competition yesterday.
About 3.00pm yesterday (Sunday, 22 September 2025) police were called to a junior Rugby 7s tournament being held at Southwell Park playing fields in Lyneham.
Police allege an 18-year-old and his father entered the playing field, with the 18-year-old assaulting one referee and as he was being assisted by a second referee, the father coward punched the second referee from behind. He was knocked unconscious and was transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics.
After speaking to witnesses, police were directed to an 18-year-old and he was arrested as he attempted to leave the scene. A 42-year-old man (who is the father of the 18-year-old) was arrested late last night when he attended City Police Station. Both men have been charged with assault and are scheduled to appear in court in November (2025).

Three teenagers have been charged after allegedly driving a stolen motor vehicle dangerously in the Gungahlin area early this morning.
About 2:30am today (Sunday, 21 September 2025), police patrolling Amaroo observed a white Audi travelling at excessive speed along Horsepark Drive. Police allege the Audi was travelling at 120km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Police followed the Audi as it continued to exceed the speed limit towards Casey, when they activated their emergency lights and sirens.
The Audi failed to stop for police and allegedly accelerated away.
Police continued to follow the Audi and attempted to deploy stop sticks, but the Audi evaded these by driving onto the wrong side of the road.
The Audi continued into Taylor, where it drove through a red light at an intersection and continued speeding.
Shortly after, the Audi collided with a kangaroo in Taylor, causing the vehicle to come to a halt.
The 16-year-old driver exited the Audi and attempted to run away from police. After a short foot pursuit, police arrested the boy.
Two female passengers, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, were also arrested at the scene.
Police checks on the Audi revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from a residence.
The 16-year-old driver was charged with fail to stop motor vehicle for police, drive motor vehicle without consent, aggravated dangerous driving, not displaying L plates and being an unaccompanied learner driver.
The 17-year-old female passenger and the 16-year-old female passenger were both charged with ride motor vehicle without consent.
All three teenagers will face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date.

ACT Policing has seized cash, drugs, packaged meat and other goods believed to be stolen after a search warrant was conducted at a Moncrieff residence yesterday.
Last month (August 2025) police responded to a report of a possible organised shoplifting syndicate operating at an Amaroo grocery store.
Further investigations identified three people as suspects in multiple shoplifting incidents around the Gungahlin region, with them believed to be responsible for stealing items worth thousands of dollars.
Yesterday (Friday 19 September 2025), police executed a search warrant at a residence in Moncrieff, and seized the following:
Approximately 50 grams of methylamphetamine (estimated street value of $25,000).
$5,500 of cash suspected to be proceeds of drug trafficking.
Several hundred dollars worth of packaged meat and seafood.
Mountain bikes including one worth approximately $3,000 that was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary on a bike shop in Mitchell in June (2025).
Two of the three alleged offenders have been identified, with charges expected at a later date.
Over the coming months, ACT Policing will be focusing on retail thefts at all major and suburban shopping centres.
The focus will include uniformed patrols, plain clothes operations and cooperation with Loss Prevention Officers.

A 49-year-old Symonston man has been charged with murder following an altercation with a man known to him on Monday afternoon.
About 5:30pm on Monday (15 September 2025), police received a call from the 49-year-old man stating that another man was lying unconscious at his front door after the pair allegedly got into an altercation.
Police arrived at the residence at the Southside Village Caravan Park in Symonston shortly after and commenced CPR on the man before ACT Ambulance Service paramedics arrived and took over his resuscitation.
The 34-year-old man (who also lived at the Caravan Park) was transported to The Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. He was pronounced deceased earlier today (Friday, 19 September 2025).
Police arrested the 49-year-old man at the scene at the time of the incident and he was charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm. Today (Friday, 19 September 2025) that charge was upgraded to one count of murder.
ACT Policing Homicide Squad detectives would like to speak to anyone who has information about the two men and their interactions, including anyone who may have spoken to either of them prior to 5.30pm on Monday.

A 51-year-old western Sydney man has been charged with fraud after allegedly defrauding more than $42,000 from a woman through a visa scam.
In January 2021 the 51-year-old met a 34-year-old woman who was residing in Australia on a student visa. Police will allege the man told the woman he could help her obtain an Australian visa.
From January 2021 to September 2021 the woman engaged with the man and fake associates created by him, to deceive and defraud her. The woman made 29 deposits to him totalling more than $42,000.
The woman attended City Police Station in December 2021 to report the incident and subsequently an investigation into the fraud scam began.
Following enquiries, in June 2024 detectives executed a search warrant at man’s residence in Middelton Grange in western Sydney.
The man was issued a summons in November 2024. Since then, he has failed to appear before court.
Yesterday (Thursday, 18 September 2025) officers from ACT Policing’s Major Crime Squad extradited him to the ACT.
He has been charged with 29 counts of obtain property by deception and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates court today (Friday, 19 September 2025).

A 27-year-old Belconnen man has been charged with driving and family violence offences following a pursuit through inner south suburbs last night.
Last Saturday (13 September 2025), the man allegedly assaulted his partner and fled from police. Following an investigation into the matter, an arrest warrant for the man was issued on Monday (15 September 2025).
About 1:30am this morning (Wednesday, 17 September 2025), police suspected the man was at a residence in O’Malley and cordoned off the immediate area surrounding the house.
A short time later, the man exited the residence and got into a grey VW Jetta.
Police had placed tyre deflation devices under the Jetta’s tyres, deflating some of them as he left the scene. Further devices deflated the remaining tyres a short distance down the road.
Despite all four tyres being flat, the man continued to try to evade police and a pursuit was commenced. It continued through multiple inner south suburbs before entering Queanbeyan and returning to the ACT. The man was driving on the wheel rims and reached speeds of up to 120km/h in an 80km/h zone during the pursuit.
The man eventually lost control of the vehicle on Uriarra Road in Beard, colliding with a sign post. He was subsequently placed under arrest.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 17 September 2025) charged with reckless driving, fail to stop for police and breach of good behaviour obligations. He will also face charges of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated common assault, forcible confinement, property damage, escape from custody and fail to stop a motor vehicle for police in relation to previous alleged acts.

ACT Policing is seeking information or footage of dangerous driving.
Police have received multiple reports of a black Holden SS ute driving erratically and dangerously on Cornelius Street, Coombs. The ute is known for being driven at high speeds in the area and doing burnouts.
Police are urging anyone who may have information regarding the vehicle, particularly anyone with footage of the vehicle driving dangerously, to contact police.
“This kind of driving behaviour poses an unacceptable risk to our community, putting the people, including children who live in that area in danger,” Officer in Charge of Woden Police Station, Detective Inspector Donna Hofmeier said.
“Dangerous driving will not be tolerated, and we are committed from removing these drivers from our roads.”
Members of the community can now submit a dangerous driving report online.
To complete the online form, you must be able to provide video evidence of the driving offence you witnessed when requested by ACT Policing. You may also be required to provide a formal witness statement to police and attend court as a witness to confirm the information provided in your witness statement.

Three people have been charged with burglary and driving a motor vehicle without consent after allegedly stealing a BMW from a Lawson home yesterday morning.
In the early hours of yesterday, (Monday, 15 September 2025), three people, including two teenagers, arrived at a Lawson residence in a white Mazda, which was previously reported as stolen.
Police will allege that the three people entered the Lawson household, and took the keys to a silver BMW vehicle, which was subsequently stolen from that residence.
Later that morning, police attended the Lawson residence, and seized the white Mazda that had been left there.
Following investigations, police attended the residence of one of the alleged offenders in the Gungahlin district and located the stolen BMW, which was later subject to forensic analysis.
A search warrant was executed later that afternoon at that residence, which resulted in the arrest of the three alleged offenders.
The woman, and two teenagers were charged with riding/driving motor vehicle without consent, aggravated burglary, joint commission take motor vehicle without consent and theft and appeared in court today (Tuesday, 16 September 2025). The two teenagers were remanded in custody, and the woman has been released on bail.
